In India, near about 30 million couples or 4-5% of the total population suffer from infertility and 2.5% suffer from childlessness. These figures are rising every day with the unhealthy lifestyle, stress and various other reasons. Female infertility is a major concern in India. But there is hope if infertility treatment are taken into consideration.
Although male infertility is also on a rise in the present time, a woman is first criticized for not having a child. Infertility in women accounts for 50% of the infertility cases and the causes of this problem varies.
As per World Health Organization (WHO), infertility in women refers to –
- The condition in which a woman cannot become pregnant; or
- Is not able to carry a child till the live birth of the child; or
